Staples UK are a large national bluechip company in the United Kingdom. They have over 200 stores nationwide, and required a system to order their in-store printed advertisements from my employer at the time, the Imprint Group.

This system was developed in-house, where I created the custom framework, and development of the first launch took 10 months. Not only did the system have to allow every single Staples store in the UK to order their point of sale material, it had to have a suffcient tracking and admin control to allow Staples headoffice the ability to change features at the click of a button.

The complete design and feature set of this system would be impossible to review here, but the following is a brief overview of the major features implemented. Firstly, the system had to follow the Staples UK look and feel, while still being easily managed by a team of people who have had no web administration experience. Printed material would be ordered from each store in the country and would link in with the City-Link delivery tracking service, to show where any dispatched orders were at any given time. Stock reports had to be generated for the admin side, as well as restrictions, new promotions and various other features.

It allowed orders to be received from stores around the country, handled and dispatched from the Imprint warehouses, and tracked / report generated / administered online by the Staples UK headoffice.

The system is proprietary to Imprint and Staples UK, therefore a live link is not possible and all rights are reserved. The site was developed using a vast array of technologies, such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS for the client side and PHP, Java, XML and SQL for the server side.
